Did you know that one-third of the world's food supply relies on pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds? Sadly, their populations are declining due to habitat loss. At Dutchman's Gold, we're committed to creating a world that buzzes with life, and that's why we're launching our exciting "Let's Plant" campaign!
Our goal is ambitious – to plant a staggering 2 million pollinator-friendly flowers across Canada. But we can't do it alone! We need you and your friends and family to join us in this vital initiative.
There are FIVE fantastic ways you can get involved and help make a difference for pollinators and our entire ecosystem, which we've outlined below. These include getting your own pack of pollinator seeds and planting pollinator friendly flowers, to supporting Bee Friendly Promise products, to supporting No Mow May.

Together, let's plant!
We're leading a nationwide effort to plant 2 million pollinator-friendly perennial flowers, creating 1000 square meters of pollinator-friendly gardens across Canada, including Ontario.
We've partnered with MYGROBOX, who’ve curated specific pollinator-friendly seed packs for the campaign.
The seed packs contain specific pollinator friendly seeds including:
Purple Asters: Rich purple blooms, abundant nectar, late-season, perfect for bees.
Bergamot: Fragrant pink to lavender blooms, long-lasting, rich nectar source.
Coreopsis: Bright yellow or orange blooms, drought-tolerant, continuous flowering.
Echinacea: Pink to purple petals, medicinal, drought-resistant, nectar-rich.
Wild Lupins: Showy blue, purple, or pink spikes, nitrogen-fixing, early bloomers.
Planting can be easy and done anywhere there is dirt and soil. Through our "Let's Plant" campaign, we’ll be sharing tips on social media, and here our website offers additional information and guidance.
We’re encouraging you to join us in planting for the bees, with honey bundles including these pollinator wildflower seed packs.
Tips for planting!
Native wildflower seeds are best planted in the late spring or early fall because that is their natural cycle for growth.
Seedlings must be planted in the ground after the last frost in late May. Mornings are best when the ground is still cool!

In addition to our planting initiatives, we're urging you to refrain from spraying or mowing your lawns throughout May. No-Mow May isn't just a trend; it's gaining traction. Some regional municipalities are even encouraging folks to embrace it. Here's why you can feel good about letting your lawn go over the month of May:
Food for the Pollinators: Bees adore dandelions and wildflowers. When we mow them down or douse them with pesticides, we're impacting bee populations and their crucial pollination work.
Building Awareness and Connection: No-Mow May isn't just about letting the grass grow; it's about fostering a deeper understanding of bees' importance in our food chain. It's a small step that makes a big difference.
