8 cups Denninger’s Artisan Apple Raisin loaf, cubed
4 medium tart apples, peeled and chopped
½ cup Unsalted butter, melted
1 ½ cups chicken broth
2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp pepper
Directions:
In a saucepan, bring raisins and 1 cup of apple juice to a boil. Remove from the heat; set aside.
Cook sausage in a deep, non-stick pan over medium-high heat, breaking up the meat with a spoon until evenly browned.
Melt butter in the sausage drippings and stir in the shallots, celery and carrots. Cook over medium heat until shallots are translucent but not browned.
Place the bread cubes in a large bowl. Add the cooked sausage meat, shallots, celery, carrots, apples, reserved raisins, thyme, chicken broth and salt and pepper to the bowl. Gently stir until well combined.
Pour the stuffing into a prepared baking dish. Cover dish with foil. Bake at 325°F for 45 minutes.
Remove foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
